Jessica Lynn Vernon of Martinsville and Michael Joseph Brooks of Collinsville were married on April 25 at Horsepasture Christian Church in Ridgeway. Senior Pastor David Cuthbertson performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Kathy Vernon of Martinsville. She is the granddaughter of Linwood Stone Jr. and Nancy Stone of Collinsville and Margaret Vernon of Bassett and the late Robert Vernon Jr.

The bridegroom is the son of Paul and Sandra Brooks of Bassett. He is the grandson of Wayne Williams of Patrick Springs, Janice Williams of Bassett and the late Harold Brooks and Bertha Brooks.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a strapless dotted tulle gown with an empire waist and a sash and a sweep train. She carried a bouquet of lavender and white roses wrapped in burlap with ribbon.

Sarah Vernon Nemeth was her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a plum chiffon tea-length dress and carried a bouquet similar to that of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Jessica Davis of Martinsville and Jessie Vernon of Danville, cousin of the bride.

Lilly Brooks, niece of the bridegroom and daughter of Kevin and Nikki Brooks of LeRoy, W.Va., was the flower girl.

Kevin Thomas Brooks was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Clay Merriman of Collinsville and Paul Vernon of Danville, both cousins of the bride.

Ushers were Timothy Merriman of Collinsville, uncle of the bride, and Michael Vernon of Ridgeway, brother of the bride.

Ring bearer was nephew of the bride Landon Nemeth, son of Joseph and Sarah Nemeth of Martinsville.

A program of wedding music was performed by pianist Linda Conover of Dry Fork.

A reception was held at the church.

The couple live in Collinsville.

The bride is a 2009 graduate of Bassett High School. She has a certificate from Patrick Henry Community College in health sciences and therapeutic massage, and she is a graduate of The Magic Mirror School of Cosmetology. She is employed by Wal-Mart and Southern Roots Salon.

The bridegroom is a 2009 graduate of Bassett High School and attends Patrick Henry Community College. He is employed by Eastman Chemical.

Prior to the wedding, the couple were honored with a wedding shower on March 8 at Smith Memorial United Methodist Church in Collinsville, hosted by the Vernon and Brooks families. On April 24, the Brooks family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Horsepasture Christian Church.
